Building a distributed world (I)

A "distributed world" (i.e. a "virtual distributed market") is a network of Agents, interconnected by a Communication Component or "Medium" (Cariou, Beugnard [1999]).

The medium supports market relationships, by indentification of both sellers and buyers through their implemented interface.

In the future evolutions of Moduleco, we have planned to distribute a simulation over a network of workstations. This could be achieved thanks to the use of mediums that delimit the interactions between agents. We are also working in the field of software architecture on the notion of "communication components". A communication component (or a Medium) can encapsulate communication procedures, protocols, or interconnections such as those used in Moduleco.
