3.4 Building a distributed world (II)

A "distributed world" (i.e. a "virtual distributed market") is a network of AgentServers. Each of these AgentServers maintains a mirror of the whole distributed world, but has an autonomous control over the Agent that it creates.

In fig 1, AgentServer A creates Agent 1 and sends all the pertinent information to the other AgentServers, in order to replicate this agent in all mirrored worlds. Such a distributed architecture has at least two advantages :

This diagramatic representation is independant of the hardware level. For instance, the AgentServer could be supported by different computer, as well as by differents sessions of the same workstation. Information flows between AgentServers is presented with complete connectivity, but could be supported by a ring network, a hierarchical network or by an interconnected heterogeneous network, like the Internet...
